  • Many of you have been asking about how I organize my Stamp Supplies. So from time to time I’ll share some tips and helpful hints. I hope they will help you find a way to keep all your crafting items organized and easily accessible. I think my number 1 question lately has been about how I store my Punches. Who can blame you!! With Stampin’ Up! coming out with so many fabulous punches in the last catalog everyone seems to want them all!! So I though I would start with how I organize my Stampin’ Up! Punches…

My Punch Storage: For years I stored my punches in a rolling cart with several drawers from the office supply store. It worked great for keeping them organized but I always found myself forgetting to use the punches on a project. They were hidden away and just easy to forget about. So about a year ago I made a change on my Punch Storage and I’m so happy I did.

I found a Kitchen Rail System at Ikea – used as a pot rack and to organize Kitchen Supplies. I bought several of the rails and hung them downstairs between my Stamp Set Book Shelf and a doorway. They are snugly stored out of the way, yet I can see them easily and I remember to grab a few of them when I am creating.

    Img_3598

In The first picture you’ll see that my wonderful Dad measured the heights of my Punches and he staggered the spaces between the rails, so I have some with more room for bigger punches and the ones near the bottom for the small punches are closer together. The second picture I took from more of an angel so you can see how the punches rest on the rail. Ikea doesn’t carry the exact rail system I used anymore, but they have one that will work just as well and you can order online. The Bygel Rail is just $1.99 per rail in the 21" length or $2.99 for the 39". It can’t get much cheaper than that!! 🙂 You can also experiment with using a close to the wall towel rack or a curtain rod for your storage.

If you don’t have the wall space for the rail system of storage or you’re looking for something a little different, here’s a few other ideas:

    • My original Storage – A Rolling Cart from the Office Supply Store
    • Use the Forget Me Not Keeper From Stampin’ Up! and place them on a book shelf.
    • A clear over the door shoe holder works great, store a punch in each shoe spot.
    • A Spice Rack that sits on your Kitchen Counter and sit on your desk with some punches on it.
    • Get Creative and come up with your own ideas!! Leave a comment on this post and let us know what creative idea you’ve come up with to organize your punches! You never know who you’ll help out with your ideas!!

  • I received an early Trick or Treat from Crista at stamp camp on Saturday and I had to share her idea with you all. It’s just the cutest thing ever!!! Crista made a Bag-A-Lope that looks like Frankenstein.

    Image0099_3

She Brayered the front of the envelope, folded the Bag-A-Lope and covered the flap with card stock.
Then she just used the some punches and markers to create the face.
She filled him with chocolate eyeball candy!! Yummy! Thanks for the great Treat Crista!!

The eyelids and nose are created with the Oval Punch which coincidently was the same punch we were using to create the Thanksgiving Pumpkin Place Card Holders at club. Here’s a picture of one of the great projects we made on Saturday!

    Image0098

I think everyone’s Thanksgiving Tables would look FABULOUS with these cute place card holders decorating each place setting!

The "Ink"redible Stamp Camp 2008 Schedule – Save These Dates cards were also handed out at the meeting. If you would like to come to next month’s stamp camp or want a copy of the 2008 Reserve These Dates card e-mail me.

  • I’ve saved the best for last!! Here’s the last couple of recipes that EVERYONE at the class seemed to want. I hope you all enjoy!

    Grandma’s Cut Out Cookies

    Cream Together:
    1 Cup Butter
    2 Cups Sugar
    3 Eggs
    1 tsp. Vanilla

    Sift Together and add:
    1 tsp. Salt
    1 tsp. Baking Soda
    4-1/2 Cups Flour

Shape into a 6" wide loaf, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill
Cut off 2" sections at a time, leaving the rest in the refrigerator so it stays cool.
Roll out about 1/4" thick on a floured dishtowel and cut out with Cookie Cutters.
Place on an ungreased cookie sheet

Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes
Cool on a rack before icing.

    Cookie Icing

Into 1/2 cup of cold water, beat 1/4 cup Meringue Powder until peaks form.
Add about, 4 cups Powdered Sugar until desired consistency is achieved.

More Sugar will make a stiffer icing. If the icing is too stiff, add water a drop at a time to thin out. The icing can be colored with gel food colors. It is easiest to "paint" or "spoon" the icing onto the cookies. Decorate with colored sugars while the icing is wet.

Grandma has made this recipe for Christmas since my Mom was a child. She makes Santa cookies, decorated with Sugars, Coconut, and Raisins. The family has carried on the tradition and we have lots of fun using cookie cutters of all shapes and sizes to make cookies for all sorts of Holidays and Events. The original recipe called for 1 Cup of Shortening instead of butter – The cookies will "puff" up less and keep their shape …. but Butter just taste better!

And for all you Chocolate Lovers…

    Mom’s Peppermint Fudge

Combine in a Microwave Safe Bowl
    3 Cups (18 ounces) Simi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
1 Can (14 ounces) Sweetened Condensed Milk (NOT Evaporated milk)
    1/4 Cup Butter

Melt in Microwave for 1 Minute on High. Remove and stir until butter is melted and mixture is smooth. (You may need to heat an additional 30 seconds to get a smooth mixture)

Stir in 1/2 tsp of Peppermint Extract
Pour into a Wax Paper Lined 8" Square Pan.
Sprinkle with about 1/2 to 1 Cup of Crushed Peppermint Candies
Refrigerate the Fudge for 2 Hours or until firm.
Turn Fudge onto Cutting Board, Peel off Wax Paper, and Cut into small squares.

The Fudge should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
    Serve it at room temperature.

  • Wow has it been a busy month! I have not had many chances to post here, but I’ve been stamping like crazy! 🙂 I finally had some time to stop and give you a peek at what I’ve been up to….

The weather may still be a little warm, but the Christmas Spirit was in the air at the Christmas Card Classes the past couple of weekends!! We had Christmas Music, Presents, Cookies, and of course Christmas Cards!!

    Img_3522_3

Tina, Shannda, and Letty enjoying a Christmas Cookie break and working at The Bonus Project Table. The Bonus Project was a fun surprise for all the class participants. They got to stamp a few of the Large Cello bags that each of their card projects were packaged in. They stamped a quick tag or bag topper and they’re all set to wrap a small gift!

    Img_3523

There’s no shortage of FUN at The Stamping Classes! As the participants moved through the Card Stamping Stations there was time for laughing with old stamping friends and time to make new stamping friends!

    Image0094

At the beginning of each class the participants picked up a decorated gift bag full of all their project supplies! It was a great way to stay organized during the class and as an added bonus, it’s reusable for gift giving this holiday season! Of course I don’t know how many of them will actually be able to part with the pretty bags!! 🙂

    Image0095

And here’s a look at 1 of the 8 cards we made at the Christmas Card class. I think this was one of my favorites. It’s festive, sparkly, and super quick and easy! 🙂 I think that’s the perfect recipe for a Christmas Card!

If you would like information on any of the products used on the projects featured here, or if you would like to be notified about the next class I’m holding, e-mail me.

  • My first round of Secret Sisters is Almost over!! I’m anxiously awaiting my reveal package – which will give me all the information about who my Big Secret Sister was!! I can’t wait to find out :). But while I am waiting I have my own Little Sister Reveal Package to send out! I am so excited with the project I came up with!! And even more excited that I get to share it with all of you since she’ll know who I am tomorrow!! Most of the gifts and cards I have sent to her were projects we’ve done at Stamp Camps, Workshops, or other Events .. so you’ve seen all of them!! But for my reveal package I wanted to do something special.

At convention I saw an adorable idea to make Boo Boxes! I was sure my fellow Halloween! loving Lil’ Sister would be Love them! So I set out to make them for her! Here’s what I came Up with!

    Image0097_2

I sponged the On Board Simon Lower letters with White Craft Ink then embossed with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder. It’s hard to see the sparkle in the picture but it’s great in person. Here’s a close up so you get a little idea of how sparkly they are!

    Image0096_2

I filled one of the boxes with Bit ‘O Honey my Lil’ Sister’s Favorite. The Other Two Boxes had the cute Halloween Figurines that are in the picture with the Boo Boxes! 🙂

I LOVE these boxes … I’m thinking about trying out some boxes for Other Holidays – Joy or Love! 🙂

  • I had my monthly Team Meeting this week… we’re busy getting ready for all the holiday fun coming up!! Our swap for this month was Christmas Cards. We had a jam packed meeting talking about the upcoming Christmas Card class and making some great Make ‘n Take projects including a fun gift box idea that Lana demoed. Of course I didn’t get much time to look at the swap cards at the meeting since we were so busy!!

When I got home and started looking over the swap cards I was SO impressed!! I have the most talented team!! It was just amazing me how far some of my team members have come from when they first started stamping!! I can remember back to my first meetings with most of them and for some of them I was putting a rubber stamp in their hand for the first time ever!! They were just excited at their ability to stamp anything!! Now I look at what they can do and I was thinking "I LOVE Stampin’ Up!" I LOVE that their products make it so easy to become an Artist!!

Anyway enough of my gushing about my talented team!! 🙂 Check out our Christmas Swaps in the Photo Albums. And don’t forget to Register for the Christmas Card Class. I have the cards for that class in my hands also and they are even MORE fabulous than the swap cards!! The original deadline for registration was today the 15th, but since we added the second date option a little later than we wanted.. we’re extending the registration deadline until next Friday the 21st! We have just a few spots left at each class… so send them in SOON!! 🙂

  • I’m running a little behind but I wanted to share with you all. Last week my Secret Sister sent me a very fun Christmas Card. It looks so shiney and modern. She used the new stamp set Snow Burst.

The snowflakes are stamped on Acetate and it’s VERY shiney and fun. Don’t forget to bring your cameras along with you because this card is just one of over 100 Christmas Card Ideas that we’ll have on display to inspire you in addition to the 8 different cards you’ll be making.
