• My cousin is graduating from High School this weekend! A few weeks ago Lisa (My Aunt) came over to work on the Graduation announcements for Phoebe. Her school colors are Red and White. So we stuck to that color combination and added in a little Black to give the "Graduation Feel" to the cards. Here's what we came up with…

    Julie20 Stamp Set:

    Year After Year

    Accessories:
    Real Red Striped Grosgrain Ribbon
    Clear Embossing Powder
    CuttleBug
    Swirls Embossing Folder for CuttleBug
    Basic Black Brad

    Colors Used On This Card:
    Real Red
    Basic Black
    Whisper White

The Hat was stamped with Craft Ink and then embossed with Clear Embossing Powder to give it some dimension. The background was dry embossed using the Cuttlebug and an embossing folder. The cards were quick and simple to make but I think they turned out very "grown up" looking!

I've also been working on our congratulations card for Phoebe's Graduation. I'm having lots of fun! But Phoebe's party is not until late June so you'll have to wait just a bit longer to get a look at it.

  • This month is the month I get to reveal myself to my SU Little Sister. I recently made up a flower pot full of Fun Pens to put out at my workshops and I decided this was the perfect gift for my little sister this month.

These Felt Flower Fun Pens are so easy to make and they are very bright and cheerful. They really dress up a table and make workshops special! (BTW – I’ve been working on learning some new techniques to make my photographs better, what do you think? I love they way this one came out)

    Img_8093_copy_2

I tied them up with a ribbon like a little bouquet of flowers. I’m sending her a set of 10 – usually enough for everyone at one workshop to have a fun pen to use.

Do you want to make your own Felt Flower Fun Pens??

Check out my latest Inkredible Stamping Tutorial. In the Felt Flower Fun Pens tutorial you’ll get step by step instructions with pictures to help you make these pens quickly and easily. Purchase your copy today.

  • I have been a very bad blogger the past couple of weeks, but I have a good reason. One of the light bulbs I use for lighting my photos burnt out and wouldn’t you know it, it’s a special order item!!! I’ve been waiting patiently (ok not really) for it to get here and it’s been so rainy and gloomy I haven’t even been able to take advantage of some good old fashioned natural light! 🙂 But finally the light bulb is here and I have light again!!

By now you all probably know how much I love the She’s All That stamp set. I didn’t think I would at first but I love working with the silhouette stamp sets. So for this month’s team meeting swap I decided to pull out more silhouette sets. Our challenge this month was to make spring cards. So I choose the Essence of Love stamp set to work with.

    Img_jul8083

I’m not normally one to use brighter colors for spring cards but this year the bright colors seem to be speaking to me. I colored on the stamp with my Stampin’ Write Markers. I used Old Olive for the stems, Real Red for the flowers, and I touched a little Pumpkin Pie on the flowers after the red to give a little contrast. Then I used my paper distresser to rough up the edges of the image and the red mat a little. I think it fits in with the organic feel of the image. Here’s a close up of the distressing

In typical May fashion we had a lot of conflicts for the team meeting this month (May is always such a busy month) So I’m holding off on posting the team swaps from the meeting until next month when I’ll have everyone’s!

  • Yesterday I had a package in the mail from my Secret Sister! The projects inside were so cute. She had altered a Wallet Photo Size Album and created a matching card. Have a look…

The Green on the spine is part of the original book, the rest is all SU.

  • Sarah tagged me for the 7 Things Game

    The Rules for 7 Things:

    1. Link your tagger and list these rules on your blog.
    2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
    3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
    4. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

    Ok Here’s my 7 things:

    1. I want a Greyhound dog – I’ve loved this dog breed since I was very young and I hope to some day fence in enough of our VERY LARGE "yard" to get one.
    2. I LOVE to read almost as much as I LOVE to stamp. My books and stamps compete often for shelf space.
    3. I love to eat my veggies. My very favorite vegetables are Asparagus and Brussel Sprouts (don’t worry, you read that right) and I don’t like smothering them in butter or cheese – just plain steamed fresh is the best way to go.
    4. I have a complete obsession with new socks. If I had all the money in the world I would buy a new pair of socks every day. They are so so so comfy when they are fresh and tight and new. The crazier the socks the better – stripes, polka dots, I love them all and they almost NEVER match what I’m wearing. 🙂 Go ahead next time you see me, take a look at what’s hiding under my pants It’s probably Purple stripes, even if my shirt is red. 🙂
    5. Currently there are 48 tabbies in my SU Idea Book marking sets I want, color combinations I like, or projects I want to CASE!
    6. While I tell everyone that my favorite Holiday is Christmas with Halloween at a very close second the truth is my real favorite holiday comes in the summer – The release of the New Stampin’ Up! Idea book and New In colors!!! 🙂 (Trust me, it’s a holiday at my house!!)
    7. I love to decorate with cut out words. In my office alone I have the words Create, Dream, and Believe on shelves and walls. And in the hallway where I put my Stampin’ Up! orders when they arrive I have a sign that says "Yes!" – A gift from my mom who assures me that every time UPS pulls in the driveway I say (you guessed it) "Yes! UPS is here!!"

Tag You’re It! Here’s who I’m tagging in no particular order cuz I LOVE to read them all!!: Julie, Mindy, Caroline, Cindy, Chat, Christine, and Patty

  • Another look at one of the projects from Stamp Camp last month. I wanted to give everyone the opportunity to practice the Reverse Watercoloring with Markers technique more than once, so in addition to the fun frame project I posted earlier this week they also got to make this card…

    Img_7964

I love the color combination in this card: Chocolate Chip, River Rock, Old Olive, and Real Red. I always like Old Olive and Real Red together and throwing River Rock in there was a fun addition. I used a little Bravo Burgundy on the flower while I was watercoloring for a darker shade. I wanted the flower to have a little "pop" so we cut out the petals and put them on the flower with dimensional.

We used the Bloomin’ Beautiful set for this card. If you would like to purchase the Bloomin’ Beautiful stamp set you can view it here then e-mail me!

  • Last Saturday I held the monthly Stamp Camp at the St. Louis County Library for my Inkredible Stampers! Mother’s Day is just around the corner so I came up with some cards and projects with Mom in mind. This month we did a Reverse Watercoloring with Markers technique on a card and a project. I LOVE this technique, it’s so quick and easy!! A lot of you will remember the Framed Art I made up for my cousin to decorate her Nursery. I found those frames at Target and of course when I found them I KNEW some day I would find another great project for them so I ran all over town that month finding as many of the frames as I could 🙂 and then they sat in my basement for a year waiting ….. I decided it was high time they came out to play so I created this fun framed art project for stamp camp – A great gift idea for Mom.

If you missed this month’s stamp camp and would like to try out the fun Reverse Watercoloring Technique and make this fun framed project you still can!! This project is this month’s Project In The Mail – visit the page for all the details and to order your kit. I have a very limited supply of frames left.

  • What My Favorite Color Purple Says About Me:
    Intuitive — Seeking — Creative
    Kind — Self-Sacrificing — Growth Oriented
Strong — Very Wise — Rare
I want to know what your favorite color is!! Post in comments and let me know what it is? Does is describe you??

My favorite color is Purple .. but if you want to be specific… it’s Almost Amethyst! 🙂

  • Earlier in the week I said I would be posting the team swaps from our meeting this month – They are up now and you can check out the Occasions Mini Swaps in the Team Swaps Photo Album. We’re growing in numbers so that means more swap cards! Of course it also means we’re quickly outgrowing the Pizza Hut in Eureka – we may need to find a new place to meet soon.

We also had one more make ‘n take from the meeting – Sue shared with us a technique for adding color to our Cuttlebug Embossing. It’s a very fun technique and super simple – You just roll ink onto the cuttlebug embossing folder using a brayer. Then place your card stock in the folder and emboss as normal. You’ll get a great look…

    Julie11

My favorite part of this card though was the Something New I learned!! My team members always give me a hard time – because they can never seem to come up with a technique or idea that I have not done or at least heard of before.
Julie10 I always tell them it’s ok … I still get tips from them or see a new way of using a technique – and really I just LOVE making cards with them at the meetings, but Sue managed to show me something I’ve never done or seen before. (I don’t know where I’ve been or what rock I’ve been hiding under – Probably people have been doing this forever) but I LOVE the idea of bringing the knot of the ribbon to the top of the image by punching with the slot punch. It’s my New favorite technique EVER!! Thanks Sue!! I think we need an "I know something Julie doesn’t know" button for you!! 🙂 If this technique is new to you too try it out on a card – I guarantee you’ll love the results!!

If you want to learn more about embossing with color using your cuttlebug. Drop me an e-mail and I’ll add your name to a list to be notified when I’m teaching the technique, until next time…
