• I love the owl in the Just Celebrate set. I created this card today to send to my secret sister (hope she’s not reading the blog – but if you are – Hi Sis!!!!!) I though this would be cheerful – and it shows off the Dyed Ribbon Slides again – this time it’s dyed Groovy Guava to match the card stock. Here’s the card…

And I though today I would give you a look inside my creative process. I know you all love to tease me that I never make mistakes and everything turns out perfect the first time out – No matter how much I protest you guys just won’t believe me 🙂 … So here’s so proof that it even takes me a few tires to get something to look the way I want. The first idea for this card started with my swap for our last meeting. I liked the way the card came out .. the colors are fun

    Img_7940

It just seems a little empty to me … so when I got home I tried changing things up a little and put a knot in the ribbon and moved the owl up.

    Img_7941

Still didn’t seem just right to me, so I changed the ribbon, added the ribbon slide, and LOVE the final product. Each of the versions of the card is good, and I would be happy to get or send any of them .. but it just took me a few tries to come up with the one I really liked best. Hope you enjoyed a look at my creative process – and remember you guys CAN do it!! Just jump in and make a card …. if it doesn’t work out just right for you – try something a little different on your next one 🙂

  • Last night was the monthly get together for my Create, Ink team – this month I had one of the make ‘n takes. I decided to demo coloring the new Stampin’ Up! Flower Ribbon Slides, from the Styled Silver Hodgepodge Hardware kit. It’s a very fun technique. Here’s the card we made…

    Jul_7936

We used the Phrases For A Friend stamp set (The set I won FREE at Regionals in Tulsa!! Yeah!) for the greetings. Img_7937_copy_3

Here’s a close up look at the colored ribbon slide. You can color your slides any color you want to coordinate with your projects. Here’s how:

    1. Squeeze a little Crystal Effects in a plastic lid or on some wax paper.
    2. Drop 1-2 drops of reinker into the Crystal Effects
    3. Stir in the reinker with a toothpick.
    4. Use the toothpick to drop the Colored Crystal effects into the ribbon slide.
    5. Let it dry and then you’re ready to go!

You can also try adding a little sparkle to your ribbon slides by dropping uncolored Crystal Effects into the slide and then sprinkling with one of our pretty colored glitters – The new Chunky Glitters look great on this technique!

Do you HAVE to have a set of Styled Silver Hodgepodge Hardware for yourself? mail me today to order a set for yourself, then start playing!!

This month we swapped cards made with sets from the Occasions Mini catalog – watch the blog for those cards a little later this week.

  • I’m a little behind on my blogging for last week. So I’ll try to catch up this week!! 🙂 Last week I was working on a baby card for a shower gift. (For those of you who know Shellie from Stamp Camp she’s due in about a month) I’m am LOVING all the cute Onesie shaped cards I’ve been seeing online lately so I decided that was the perfect card idea! Is there anything in the world more adorable than little baby onsies?!?! Here’s a look at the card I made (Remember to click on the picture for a bigger photo)…

    Img_7938_copy_2

I used the stamp set Just Celebrate for the Elephant on the onesie. I created this card just from looking at some of the ideas posted online. Here’s how I made mine. I used a standard size card folded at the top. I punched about 1/2 a circle from the top center and about 3/4 of a circle from the bottom corners. I measured down about 1-1/2" from the top and cut in about 1/2" on each side. I used a ruler and my bone folder to score the card in a straight line from the end of the 1/2" cut to the bottom of the leg. Then cut with my scissors. I used the scallop circle punch w/the circle punched out of the middle to create the ruffles!

I love the idea of this card – The new Mommy can easily use the card front as a scrapbook page embelishment and I LOVE coming up with baby cards that will fit well into a scrapbook.

If you have any questions about how to re-create this card for yourself just drop me an e-mail.

Update: Just before this post was scheduled to go out I got an e-mail from Crista, Shellie’s cousin. Shellie had her baby tonight – Shellie wanted to wait to find out if it was a boy or girl. So she got to meet her Suprise Baby Girl Sophie at 8:05 tonight!! Congrats to Shellie and Family!! Hopefully we’ll get to meet Sophie at her first Stamp Camp in a few months!!

  • The last of the sample ideas from last month’s stamp camp. We were working on the Dry Embossing technique at this stamp camp, so I had two cards using embossing techniques. The first card idea came from a project that was demoed at the Tulsa Regionals.

    Julie2_2

    Stamp Set:
    Time For You

    Accessories:
    Soft Sky Double Stitched Ribbon
    Priceless Classy Brass Template

    Colors Used On This Card:
    Soft Sky
    Certainly Celery
    Barely Banana
    Chocolate Chip

The white vellum was embossed with swirls from the Priceless Classy Brass Template then attached over the Soft Sky card stock to creat a "windy" sky.

The next card idea was again inspired by combining a few features that I liked from cards posted online.

    Julie1Stamp Set:
    Live Your Dream

    Accessories:
    Carousel Notes Cards
    Chocolate Chip Poly-Twill Ribbon
    Styled Silver Hodgepodge Hardware
Pick a Petal Classy Brass Template

    Colors Used On This Card:
    Soft Sky
    Wild Wasabi
    Groovy Guava
    Chocolate Chip

Julie5The Pick a Petal Classy Brass Template is a perfect match for the Carousel Notes cards in the Occasiona Mini Collection. We embossed the dots on the template in each scallop and then used the paper piercing guide on the template to create the circle around the image. I love these new Carousel Notes cards, they make a fun and unique card to send to someone special and they are also great for using an embelishments on scrapbook pages.

Click on the Pictures to get a bigger image so you can see the pretty embossing.

Would you like a package of Carousel Notes or a Classy Brass Template for your crafting stash!? E-mail me today to order any of the items featured in these projects.

  • Pink and Brown are all the rage right now, and any girly girl in your life would LOVE to get this fun Birthday Card. This is one of the projects from the March Stamp Camp.

    Julie4_2

    Stamp Sets:

    She’s All That
    Bitty Birthdays

    Colors Used On This Card:
    Purely Pomegranate
    Regal Rose
    Pretty in Pink
    Chocolate Chip
    Whisper White

    Accessories:
    Purely Pomegranate Double Stitched Ribbon
    Linen Thread

    Stampin’ Dimensionals
    Stampin’ Write Markers
A Blender Pen with Reinker for the Pomegranate Marker

Julie3_2 The Gift bag from the Bitty Birthdays set was colored in stripes with the Stampin’ Write markers. Then I cut it out, cutting off the handles. I used Snail Adhesive to attach a small amount of linen thread for the handle and some tissue paper sticking out the top. Then I used a stampin dimensional to give the bag some "lift" off the card.

This card was inspired and put together from several different ideas I saw on-line. A big thanks to everyone who inspired me!! That what I love about sharing on-line, it’s so easy to pull a few ideas from here and there and come up with a card you love!

I’ve got some great card ideas read for this month’s stamp camp on April 26. If you want to come join in the fun or was more information about the stamp camp, contact me today!

  • We had SO much fun at the March Inkredible Stampers’ Stamp Camp! I have several fun and spring feeling projects for everyone to make. I’ll be sharing those projects over the next several posts! 🙂

Redpinwheel The first project, a VERY fun 8 petal pinwheel. The template from this pinwheel came straight from Stampin’ Up! They have one pictures in the Spring-Summer Collection Idea Book. I found these great pinwheel kits for us to use so that the pinwheels spin freely. Then I picked out Designer Series Papers that would coordinate well with the colors of the pinwheel kits! There were such a BIG hit that I decided to offer them as my VERY FIRST Projects In The Mail Kits. What is Projects In The Mail?
Click Here to Find Out All About It.

We had pinwheel kits in the primary colors of the rainbow and it was tons of fun watching all the different pinwheels coming together!

If you missed out on club this month check out the Projects in the Mail option so you can make a pinwheel for yourself at home!

I was playing around with the pinwheels at home after club and I got the idea to create a Mini Pinwheel. They turned out so cute!! I’ll have instructions in the Projects in the Mail Tutorial for converting pinwheels to the smaller size also!

  • I’m living on an island – ok, not quite, but the rivers are rising around us and though I’m on top of a great big hill all the roads out that run along low farm fields are flooded. So being stuck at home with no where to go is giving me some time to play. I was looking around online and found this fun little quiz. How Many Colors Can You Name in 5 minutes? – I figured I pull the Crayolas out quite ofter to color when I’m babysitting, I should be able to get most of the colors!! 🙂 Not even close!!! 60 colors is what I came up with. Give me a quiz with Stampin’ Up! colors and I could have done 60 colors in less than a minute!! 🙂

    60

If you take the quiz have fun revisiting your childhood and come back and leave a comment letting me know how you did!!
