  • At convention there were lots of fun displays and demonstrations featuring the big shot. One of my favorites was this room set up they created…

    IMG_8688

Of course the whole room is decorated up Stampin' Up! style, including a banner that was cut using the Pennant BigZ XL die!! But my favorite part of this room is the walls. The Tulipe BigZ Die was used to cut out stencil plastic and then the image was stenciled randomly on the wall using stencil paints.

Here's a closer look at the images stenciled on the wall…

The possibilities with this idea are limitless!! I'm looking forward to thinking up fun home decorating projects with my Big Shot!!

If you would like more information about the other items you can cut with a Big Shot – E-mail me.

  • I was recently invited to join my very first Design Team and I'm so excited!! Sherry over at PaperShapeZ creates the most fabulous box and card templates!! As a member of her team I get to play around with her new templates and come up with some fun ideas for them! 🙂 The first template I picked out to play with is her new Birthday Hat Favor Box.

    JulieIMG_9055

To create this box I started with The Birthday Hat Gift Box Template.

    • Print out the template on Pink Pirouette card stock.
    • Loosely trim the hat from the card stock leaving about a 1/2" border around the template.
    • Use the Anywhere Glue Stick to cover the back side of your hat (The side with no printing). Then attach it to Pink Polka Dot Belle Rose Designer Series Paper.
    • Use a bone folder to smooth the paper onto the card stock and get rid of any air bubbles. Let it try
    • Cut the box out following the lines on the template and assemble using Sticky Strips to hold the box together.

IMG_9058When you're finished you'll have an undressed Birthday Hat Box (seen to the left). It looks great just like it is 🙂 But I decided to dress it up a little bit more. The hat covered with the Polka Dots Belle Rose DSP reminded me of a circus feel. I though it would be fun to dress it up as a favor box for a circus themed birthday party!

    Dressing The Box Up

-To create a brim for my hat I started by cutting a 3/4" strip of paper from the same piece of DSP that covers the hat. I used the paper with the opposite side out (The Pink Side) so that I had a fun contrast at the bottom of the hat.

    • I used the Scallop Border Punch to scallop one edge of the strip of paper.
    • Wrap the strip of paper around the bottom of the box and marked the strip where the first scallop overlapped another. Take the strip away from the hat and cut off the excess paper where you marked.
    • On the inside (red side) place a small line of adhesive along the bottom edge (unscalloped edge) of the paper and also on the part that overlaps.
    • Attach the paper to itself overlapping 1 scallop to create a circle.
    • Carefully slide that circle onto the hat until it's all the way at the bottom. Then carefully press along the bottom edge to attach the adhesive to the hat. Your band will not touch the bottom of the hat everywhere, there may be some gaps but don't worry – it should be touching enough to hold!

    – To create the ribbon pom pom at the top of the hat I followed The Directions for making a Pom Pom bow on the Better Homes and Garden website. I wrapped the loops around 3 fingers and wrapped a lot more times than they suggested.

When I was finished I cut some of the loops in the back to give it a rougher look. I had lots of fun with the pom pom bow but I think it still needs a little work. I'm going to enjoy playing and perfecting this technique in the future!!

I tied the pom pom onto a toothpick and stuck that in to the little hole at the top of the hat. To create the "Celebrate You" greeting attached to the top of the toothpick I stamped "Celebrate You" from the Party Hearty Stamp Set in Pacific Point ink. I punched it out with the Scallop Circle Punch. Then I punched 2 Round Tab Punched from Riding Hood Red card stock and overlapped them to create a circle (I'm so excited that SU had a new 1-3/4" circle Punch that's big enough to back the scallop circle and I won't have to use this trick anymore once I get my new punch)

Sandwich the toothpick between the Red Paper and the Greeting. I used sticky strips to get a good hold and that's it you're finished!!

How cute would these look an as place card holders with each child's name on the top instead of the Celebrate You???? And to all the SU demos out there you could use the 20 Year Anniversary die cut at the top for a great Hostess or Team Member gift!! 🙂

If you have any questions or would like to order any of the supplies I used to create this box e-mail me: InkyFingrz@aol.com

  • I spent some time playing with Stampin' Up!'s new Decor Elements a couple of weeks ago. It was SO much fun and SO easy!!

Look at how I was able to dress up our Cookbook shelve area. 🙂

    JulieDecoreElementsSwap

I used the Long-Stem Silhouette flowers in Chocolate Chip on the wall. I positioned it so it looks like the flowers are coming right up behind out Cook Book Shelf. Here's a close up…

    DecoreElements2

It was SO much fun and I can't wait to play with some more wall vinyl! This book shelf is in our Mud/Laundry room – I'm thinking the next them I need to do is fancy up our boring old white Washing Machine and Dryer with some Chocolate Chip flowers and swirls!!

I saw a TON of fun ideas for decorating rooms with Vinyl at convention and I'll share some of those pictures with you soon!! And you will not believe the FABULOUS second phase of Decor Elements that SU will be releasing this fall!! Stay Tuned!!

I know a lot of you will remember this card from Stamp Camp a couple of months ago…

    IMG_8257

I Loved this card – but it used last year’s In Colors – So I decided to do a little Color Re-Mix and create the card using The New In Colors: Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, and Baja Breeze

  • I am so excited about the swap I signed up for today! The Mini Album swap! I am looking forward to having tons of fun little mini album ideas to share with you!!

Here’s a look at the albums I created for this swap. The first album is a Clear Envelope Mini Album. I choose a Christmas Theme for this album.

    IMG_8269

I used the new Scallop Border punch to add some interest to the spine of this album. And I went CrAzY with scallops inside the album on each of the pages.

    IMG_8273

Notice the thin little stripe I added to the edge of the page?? Do you have trouble cutting those super thin strips?? Well so do I!! I can never seem to get those 1/4″ strips of paper cut straight – and here’s a tip for you… The strips I used on the pages in this album are actually the “scrap” that’s left over after you punch your scallop border!! I just saved them up from all the pages and then used them on complimentary colored pages! Too Much Fun!!

Here’s a look at some of the other albums I’m swapping at this swap…

The Mini Pocket Album – Done is a Wedding Theme

    IMG_8274

And a look inside at one of the pocket pages just waiting for pictures…

    IMG_8276

And next the Mini Photo Album. It hangs on a bag or backpack and the pages swing out. I choose a Birthday Theme for this book.

    IMG_8278

And last but not least the Altoid Tin Album – done up like a little purse.

    IMG_8282

The Inside Folds out so you can fill it with lots of little pictures…

    IMG_8288

Whew!! Are you exhausted yet?? I know I am!! I warned you there were LOTS of Mini Albums in this post!! If you are interested in Hostessing a Class and learning to make one of these Mini Albums Send me an E-mail. InkyFingrz@aol.com
