• Merry Christmas Everyone!! Here’s a cute little poem a fellow SU Demonstrator shared with me. I had to share it with you as a little holiday treat!! 🙂 This is SO how I felt this year!!! I hope you enjoy it too…

    ‘Twas the week before Christmas
and the house was a hush.
    Save the stamping of rubber
    in a last minute rush.

    The cardstock was cut
    with precision and care,
    In hopes that a greeting
    would soon be stamped there.

    The children were tucked in
    their beds around eight,
    but now it’s 10:30–
    How’d it get so late?

    And I in my PJs
    with bleary red eyes,
    had finally arranged
    all the stamping supplies.

    It started out simple
    (it does every year)
    just make a few cards
    for friends who are dear.

    Nothing too fancy–
    just an elegant touch
    A gold embossed image,
    some ribbon and such.

    I pressed ink to paper
    (it looked crisp and clean)
    a sprinkle of powder,
    then heat for a sheen.

When what on my green Christmas
    cards should appear?
    Why a tiny gold Santa,
    with sleigh and reindeer!

    But with little stray flecks,
    and some missing spots, too,
    I knew in a moment
    this one wouldn’t do.

    Then I tried it again,
    once more, and another.
    "I will get this right!"
    I said to no other.

    On pigment! On powder!
    On heat from a gun!
    Now ribbon! And envie!
    Can I make fifty-one?

"I can do it!" I said
    with all of my might.
    And looked at the clock–
    ’twas well past midnight.

    I went straight to stamping
    out card after card.
    "This might take all night,
but at least it’s not hard."

    But after I finished,
    they looked a bit lame.
    I didn’t want fancy,
    but these were too plain.

    And then in a twinkling
    a thought came to mind.
    "I’ll just dress them up
    and then they’ll be fine."

So I went in my craftroom
    and looked all around.
    Then back to the table
    with all that I’d found.

    My Fiskars I brandished
    (I wasn’t a quitter).
    And soon I was covered
    in EP and glitter.

    A bundle of papers
    I spread on the table
    to find the right background
    (quite sure I was able).

    With fibers that sparkled,
    a mulberry sheet
    was just the right choice,
    my card to complete.

    I started to smile
    when the cuckoo came out.
    "It’s now 3am!"
    That bird left no doubt.

    The cap of a marker
    I held in my teeth.
    I’d lay in some color,
    or maybe gold leaf.

    My broad little face
    was all beaded with sweat.
    But I wouldn’t give up!
    Well, not at least yet.

There was glue on the table
    and ink on the floor.
    I laughed at the site,
    though my fingers were sore.

    I did not complain,
    just kept up my work.
    When more things went wrong,
    I did not go berserk.

    When I finally finished,
    one card, around six,
    it looked pretty good
    after all of my tricks.

    "I’m keeping this one.
    My work on it shows."
    So clutching my card,
    up the staircase I rose.

    I crawled into bed
at the first crack of dawn.
    Creativity spent,
    motivation all gone.

    But make no mistake!
    I promise one thing–
    "You’ll all get your cards!
But you’ll get them next Spring!"

    Happy Stampin’

  • I just LOVE being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator!!!! We are treated so well 🙂 … Stampin’ Up! sent each demonstrator a Christmas Gift in the mail!! When you’re sending gifts to demonstrators, it’s easy to figure out what they want!! Stamps!! 🙂 That’s right .. we each got a stamp set that will be available in the Spring Mini (In March) .. It’s a cute set. It’s got paisleys and flowers!! As soon as the crazy Christmas Rush is over I’ll play around with the new set and upload some sample projects for you all to see!!

  • I’m so happy!! My Christmas Cards are done and in the mail! It was a tough one this year.. things have been too busy. It felt really good to sit down the other day and take some time to myself to play with the stamps and work on the cards. It was a little break from all the crazies!! I didn’t plan very well this year. I designed my card a few minutes before I started working on them .. so I did not have enough paper and supplies to make the cards all the same!! But even that was a fun challenge. I was able to change up the colors a little and make two versions of the same card. I also made up some of the leftovers from the Christmas Card Class and sent those out to family and friends who had not seen the cards at the classes.

So I took all my almost 100 cards to the post office today and put them in the mail and finally it really feels like Christmas!! There is just something about sending out a handmade card to your friends and family that just brings out the spirit of the season! Here’s a peek at the two versions of the card I sent out.

Image0180 Here is the originals color combinations. I just LOVE this card – it’s so simple but fun.. and I got to use the new Ribbon Originals from the Winter Mini! I love the Cool Caribbean and Real Red Combo..

Image0188 And Here’s the alternate color combination I came up with since I only had enough Cool Caribbean to make like 20 cards :). If it’s possible I think I love this one even more!! It’s one of those Happy Mistakes.. I’m so glad I didn’t have enough paper and was forced to think up another design! 🙂

I’ve been getting some GREAT cards in the mail from all of you also … when I have a few free minutes I’ll scan some of them in and post them here so I can show off your great work!!

    Happy Stampin’

  • I had my last team meeting for the year last Monday! 🙂 December’s always a small meeting, everyone Img_12301is so busy this time of year, but we had lots of fun! As usual I gave out my Christmas gifts to all my wonderful downline members who were at the meeting. Here’s a picture of the gifts all dressed up and ready to go.

And Here’s a Close-Up of the Snowman Ornament I put on the outside of each gift. I was originally going to include these ornaments in the ornament buffet .. but it didn’t work out for this year. So hopefully we’ll get to do them at a Christmas stamp camp some time next Year!

At the Meeting Carrie had a great make ‘n take for us. We made a very sparkly ornament. We stamped the Frosty snowman on a glass ornament, colored him in, and glittered him. Another great ornament idea for next year!! Since this was a small meeting, we just did the 1 make ‘n take, then we spent some time visiting and talking about techniques we would like to learn at future meetings. We assigned Make ‘n Takes for Next month and that’s about it!

The Ornament Buffet was a Hit!

Last Saturday the "Ink"redible Stampers’ Club held their annual Christmas Party. This year I decided to have an ornament buffet! I have several ornament choices and anyone attending could make whatever ornaments they wanted for just $1.00 each. I also had a bigger project for $15.00 – a lighted glass block. I think everyone had a GREAT time and I had tons of fun getting ready for the party. I can tell you for sure we are doing that again next year!! I already have some great Ideas to make it even bigger and better. For those of you who attended let me know if you have any suggestions!! .. For those of you who couldn’t make it .. here’s a picture of the retro star ornaments we made.
