• Image0001 Last Monday at the Art Center meeting we got to play with Polymer Clay. It was tons of fun!! I made this clay pen and I LOVE it! the texture was created with a clay texture plate and then I rubbed Pearl Ex into the indents to make them stand out. Of course when I got home my brain started running wild! I started thinking of all the fabulous background stamps I have, and I’m thinking I can use them to press designs into clay to make more pens! I can’t wait to play with the clay again and try out some of the background stamps to see how that turns out. If you want to make your own pen it’s very simple, there are tons of fun ways to cover a pen with clay. You can use slices from a clay cane, make a marbled look by mixing clays, or impress designs into the clay like I did. You can find detailed instructions for making and baking the pens on Sculpey’s Website.

Also Pam sent me a cute Welcome Spring Pop-Up Card. I put pictures in the Your Creations photo album, so take a look in there before you leave! 🙂

  • What a beautiful spring day we’re having!! I just went outside to enjoy the sunshine and take some pictures of the projects from stamp camp yesterday. We had a GREAT stamp camp!! I’m so happy everyone had so much fun. The projects were focused on doing things for Mom since Mother’s day is coming up soon. One of the projects we made were Jumbo Paperclip Bookmarks. They make the perfect compliment to a Book Store Gift Card for Mom. She can buy whatever book she wants and mark her pages in style!! Here’s a picture of some of the samples I made.

and Here’s a picture of the Certainly Celery bucket I keep them in on my desk. Since I read a lot I’m always looking for bookmarks and always misplaceing them. This keeps them handy for me to grab. I LOVE it!! 🙂

  • I finally settled into this Blogging thing enough to play around with customizing my site. Up to now I’ve just been using one of the pre-designed layouts. My Fabulous new Title Banner was created for me by Beth Silaika – she did a great job giving me exactly what I wanted! If you’re looking for a banner for your website I absolutely recommend her!! Check out her other work at Freckled Fun Designs.

I hope you all enjoy the new look of this site – it feels much more like me!! I’m amazed at how that happened without me using a stitch of purple anywhere on the whole page 🙂 but somehow I managed it!!

It’s been a busy week and I haven’t had much stamping time, but I have some birthdays coming up and stamp camp is next weekend.. so I’ll have some new stuff to show off soon, I promise!!

Blog Candy Update: Thanks to everyone for your great comments!! They’ll be a big help with my project. Feel free to keep your comments comming, but we have a Blog Candy winner. The winner is Liz! Congratulations, I’ll get in touch with you so you can pick your prize out of the prize drawer!!

  • Image0283 My cousin and her husband welcomed Baby Ian to their family on Wednesday the 14th at 3:40am. He is 6lbs 9ozs, 19 inches long, and cute as a button!! Mom and baby are recovering and will be home soon! I was so blessed to be present at his birth … although VERY tired!! 🙂 Fortunately I for-saw the coming labor and had just finished making the welcome baby card for my cousin about an hour before she called me to tell me her water broke!! 🙂 So after baby Ian got here I went home to grab a few hours of sleep and then went back up to the hospital with Baby’s welcome gift and a card for the family. I made this card using Baby Talk stamp set. The ribbons are from the Seaside Ribbon Originals.

  • Img_2114 Crista shared this great Box-A-Lope project last night at my monthly team meeting. It is TOO cute for words! We used the Bunny Hugs stamp set to decorate the box which was created by folding a Medium size Stampin’ Up! envelope. Crista also showed us how to create easter grass for our basket by fraying Grosgrain Ribbon. The designer series paper makes a very pretty band around the box. The box is filled with pink easter grass and Chocolate Eggs in pastel easter colors.

Serena also had a really cute make ‘n take! We made a Welcome Baby card, and it’s done in GIRL colors. So for everyone who is tired of all my boy baby cards (it’s not my fault really EVERYONE I know is having baby boys) you can have a little baby girl inspiration is you visit the Photo Album for this month. You’ll find the card I made at the meeting along with all our Easter/Spring swaps.

    Happy Stampin’ and Spring Everyone!

  • Image0273_2 I got a great surprise in the mail today! Carrie (and the soon to arrive baby Sam) sent the most adorable Thank You card for her mini Baby Shower that was thrown at a recent SU team meeting! She wrote the sweetest note inside, to me and the rest of the team and I’m excited to take the note and share it with everyone at our Meeting next week. There is really just something so great about getting a hand made card in the mail, it can brighten any day! I love the color combination on the card – VERY boy and a little more unique than the combinations I usually see.

  • My Aunt Lisa came over to Stamp with me today, we had a couple of fun projects to work on. My Art Center meeting is this week and I wanted to take a little St. Patty’s Day treat to the ladies at the meeting so I was working on that while she was here. This is what I came up with – If you’re going to be at the meeting and want to be surprised don’t read this until after the meeting!!! 🙂

I found the idea for these adorable little "Wrapped Candy" boxes on Splitcoast. They look just like a little wrapped candy – they’re so yummy looking I could eat ’em up!! They are quick and VERY simple to make. I used the Green colors of paper out of our Petals & Paisleys Designer Series Paper from the Spring Mini.

It’s not in the picture but, I filled the boxes with Golden Gum Coins and tied a tag onto each box with this poem…

    The Leprechauns of Ireland
Bring a special gift your way
It’s full of love and happiness
    On this St. Patrick’s Day
    And along with good wishes
    From this merry little group
    Comes a little something special
    Some Leprechaun Loot!

I created a template out of plastic to make these boxes go together even quicker – We’ll be making these boxes at the "Ink"redible Stamp Camp at the end of March and everyone will get to take their own plastic template home!! These boxes are great for so many different things: Birthday or Shower Favors, Christmas Candy, Halloween, the possibilities are endless.

While Lisa was over here we also worked on her Invitations for our Family Easter – The cards turned out SO cute! you can see an example in the Your Creations! photo album.

  • Last weekend’s Stamp Camp was tons of fun! I hope everyone found some inspiration from the Easter projects and cards or from the Surprise Pop Up Card! My favorite project from last weekend was the little Easter Bunny Nugget holder. They will make a great little handout gift for my friends! Here’s a picture of them in case you missed out on this month’s Stamp Camp. If you would like a copy of the instruction sheet for this project e-mail me.

I loved hearing from everyone about how they were inspired by last month’s Valentine’s Flowers! I’m so happy so many of you had fun making and giving them out!! I LOVE to hear when one of our Stamp Camp projects sparks your own creativity!! Feel free to leave comments on this website letting me know when you’re having fun with a stamp camp project! Also remember that if you mail me a copy of a card or project you’ve made or just take a picture/scan and e-mail it to me, I’ll post it online to share with everyone else!!

  • I had the monthly Meet-Up for my Create, INK team tonight and the theme of the evening was Julie Talks TOO Much! I had so much fun information from Leadership to share with the other demonstrators in my group I don’t know if anyone else got a word in tonight but we still had a blast! I brought back a little souvenir from Leadership for each of my downline and they got them at the Img_2010editwtmmeeting tonight. Stampin’ Up had the most adorable little tins in the Momento Mall – they were filled with either Gum, Mints, or Lip Gloss and the were decorated with examples of the new Designer Series Papers in the Spring Mini so this is what I brought back for each of them. To the left is a picture of the tins.

I also took my box of swaps with me to the meeting so everyone could look at my fun new ideas, and following my tradition I scanned all the swaps and put them on CD for everyone at the meeting to take home. I bundled the CD with one of the tins in a cello bag and tied some curling ribbon on the tops, so their souvenir was all dressed up!

    Img_2004editwtm

I was doing one of tonight’s Make ‘n Take projects – so of course I had to play with my new Spring Mini Toys that I pre-ordered while I was at Leadership (for a great discount I might add). We used the new Spiral Punch, Rounded Tab Punch, and the Office Accouterments stamp set to make this card. I came up with the design all on my own too!!

    Image0270

Debbie also had a great Make ‘n Take for the meeting – we got to play with bleach stamping and you can check that card out in the February Swaps Photo Album. Our theme for the month’s swap cards was Sell-A-Bration sets – there are some great ideas in there and don’t forget you only have until the end of February to earn your Free Sell-A-Bration sets!

Well after that long post you all probably agree with the title! Julie talks too much. But hey team meetings are completely free, you get to make fun cards, and you get gifts from me! We all know how quiet I usually am so one night a month of listening to me talk has to be worth it, Right?

And here’s a little Blog Candy for those of you who made it through the whole post. I have an extra tin and cd all wrapped up waiting for one of you! How can you get it? Simple leave a comment on one, or a couple,  of the posts on my blog. Next Monday February 19, 2007 I’ll write your name on a slip of paper for each comment you left, toss them all in a bucket and draw out one winner! You’ll get a copy of my swap cd and one of the tins from Leadership. To leave a comment just click on the comment button at the bottom of a post and type away – be sure you leave you name/e-mail w/the comment so I can get you your prize! And watch my blog next Monday to find out who won!

    Happy Stampin’ Everyone
