  • I always have request for fun ways to dress up those family newsletter updates we all like to send around the Holidays. I always LOVE the ideas Shelli shares on her Blog and this is one of my favorites – a pretty simple way to dress up a plain paper and I think the idea of sending out the updates in the spring or summer is fabulous!!

How many of you send out newsletters every year??

    -Julie

    clipped from www.soshelli.com

Like many of you, we try to send out a family newsletter every year, updating people about what’s going on in the Gardner family and including a recent photo.

Also like many of you, we used to send our newsletter out around Christmastime. However, several years ago I realized that for me the Christmas update just made the holidays even more hectic, so I decided to send out the Gardner Greetings in the spring. That worked for a year or two, then it slipped to the summer, and last year I didn’t send one out at all!

This year I promised myself I’d get it sent out. And I’m making progress! Here’s the designed letterhead, which is step 1! Step 2 is finding a few hours to stamp them all. And step 3, of course, is to write the letter.

    Gardner Greetings

  • Debbie took these boring flat black flip flops and made them FABULOUS! This was one of prizes we gave away at our Punch Art Garden class back in May. If you want to see more of the prizes we gave away visit my Facebook Page and check out the photo album for Punch Art Garden Prizes.

Don't these pretty Flip Flops just call out to your feet?? Here's a close up of the flower with the brad and bling in the center!

    IMG_1833

    To Create These Flip Flops:

Debbie started with simple Black Flip Flops and some Black and White Fun Foam.

    1. Using the Flower Daisies #2 Die. Cut two of each size daisy from White Fun Foam and two of each size flower from Black Fun Foam.
    2. Stack the daisies together following this pattern: Large white daisy, large black daisy, medium white daisy, medium black daisy, small white daisy, small black daisy.
    3. Stack one of the larger brads from the Filigree Designer Brads on top of your flowers. Insert a Clear Rhinestone brad through the Filigree Brad and all the flowers. Open the prongs in the back to hold everything together.
    4. Turn the petals of the flower so they are off set and the white peeks through between the black on each layer. Then press your brad firmly down on a hard surface. This should tighten everything up and keep it all in place.
    5. Repeat Step 2-4 to create your second flower.
    6. Hot Glue the flowers onto the strap of your Flip Flops.

The Big Shot makes this such a quick and easy project – I'm looking forward to trying it out for myself.  I have some flip flops in fun colors that I picked up on a $1 sale this spring and I'm going to play around with some other color combos and different dies.

If you want to view all the big shot dies avaliable from Stampin' Up! Shop Now on my SU site and look for the Die Cutting section!

  • I had my quarterly Team Meet up for my Create, Ink! team earlier this month. I shared some tips on using Smooch Spritz with my team. I'm in LOVE with this stuff, so fun and easy to add sparkle to your projects!

The first project I demoed featured The Gold Glow and Log Cabin Smooch Spritz colors. I laid the Positive Image stencil from Mostly Vintage on the card front and spritzed first the Gold then the Log Cabin to give a nice vintage look.

The Stamp Set is Because I Care, one of the sneak peek hostess sets from the new catalog. I LOVE IT!

The card stock is Concord Crush and Crumb Cake. The colors didn't quite seem to pop right in these photos – sorry for that – It's REALLY pretty in person.

Here's a close up so you can see some of the shimmer

    IMG_1998

    Very pretty!

I also used Smooch Spritz on our Make 'n Take at the meeting. This time I used the Vanilla Shimmer. Let me tell you I could spritz this stuff on everything all day long! It gives the most beautiful subtle sparkle and shimmer all over everything. You really can't tell from the photograph but the whole background has a subtle shimmer…

    IMG_1989-copy

The card base is Rose Red.
I sponged Perfect Plum over Presto Patterns Specialty Designer Series Paper. Then spritz the whole thing with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz.

The Ribbon is one of the new narrow taffeta ribbons in Marina Mist and the stamp set is Perfect Punches – another sneak peek set that'll be coming out in July with the new Idea Book.

If you have not reserved your copy of the new book yet e-mail me today to do that!
