  • ColorChallenge4Hi Stampers! I'm back with another ColorLab color challenge card! When I picked out this weeks inspiration for the color challenge, Fun and Funky is what came to mind immediately!

The Cherry Cobbler, Cajun Craze, Certainly Celery, and Bashful Blue accented with Early Espresso and set on a Whisper White background create a Trendy color pallet and the dots of color make a very funky chair.

So I figured the best stamp set to create a Funky card with is Funky Four. We used this set last Saturday at Stamp Camp, but this card has a totally different look and feel from the Stamp Camp card – I LOVE when inexpensive stamp sets can create lots of different looks on projects. Big Bang for your buck!

    • Funky Four Stamp Set
    • Occasional Quotes Stamp Set
    • Certainly Celery ink and card stock
    • Cherry Cobbler ink and card stock
    • Cajun Craze ink and card stock
    • Bashful Blue ink and card stock
    • Early Espresso ink and card stock
    • Whisper White card stock
    • Two Step Owl Punch
    • 1-3/4" Circle Punch
    • Assorted Buttons (Some retired, but you can use current Designer buttons to recreate a similar look.
    • Greenhouse Gala Designer Series Paper
    • Square Lattice embossing folder with Big Shot

I wanted a lot of Whisper White on this card like the chair in the inspiration but I didn't want it to look too plain so I added the layer of Square Lattice embossed card stock. It's a nice way to add texture but keep the color simple.

6a00d8341c17f953ef00e5516afeda8833-500wi The layout for this card came from another sketch (It's really fun to use sketches to create cards – it helps you find somewhere to start but you still get to be creative and come up with your own look to the card! This sketch came from Sketch This card sketch 44 . I liked how this sketch had a similar feeling to the pattern on the chair in the inspiration picture!

I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with for this color challenge. Be sure to click over to the ColorLab color challenge blog to see how my other Design Team members interpreted this color challenge. Then add a picture of your project to the post using the InLinkz at the bottom of the post.

  • I've been getting a LOT of positive feedback from all of you on my Wish List Wednesday posts. Everyone seems to really be enjoying hearing about my Stampin' Up! wants! So I'm going to keep it going for a while.

This week the wish list item I'm sharing with you is another stamp set – I let out a great big squeak of delight when I saw this set in the book – I love knitting and crocheting and I love sheep with yarn coming off of them. Just before the new book came out I was telling my Mom that I wish I could find a stamp set somewhere that I could use on our Knitting projects! It's like SU read my mind. This set is on it's way to my house right now – it's on the UPS truck and will hopefully be here soon and I can't wait to start stamping with it. If you're a knitter this would make a great addition to your wish list! And if you have knitting friends it's got FABULOUS gift potential – you can either give a gift of the Stamp Set itself or buy the set for yourself and make up a nice little kit of stamped labels and gift tags to give.

    Handknit
Hand Knit Clear Mount (120507) $13.95
Hand Knit Wood Mount (117012) $17.95

You can find this stamp set in my online SU Store – just click the link below in my signature line.

  • This week's ColorLab Color Challenge Night of Navy, Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze, Pumpkin Pie, and Crumb Cake (the color formerly known as Kraft). If you want to play along this week just follow this link to the color challenge page.

Normally when I do baby cards I stick with the soft pastel look. It's just they way I like my baby cards 🙂 . But when I saw these colors they were just screaming to me to create a baby boy card!

    IMG_2105

SC289 NCThe layout for this card also came from a challenge. This was the Sketch Challenge 289 on Splitcoast Stampers.

I'm really happy with the colors in this card,  I might have to play around with more bold colors on baby cards in the future!

I wanted to give the baby buggy some dimension so I stamped it my card stock so that the falling off the left side. I stamped the baby in the buggy. Then I stamped the buggy again on a scrap of card stock and cut it out, then attached it over the stamped buggy so it looks like it's coming right out of the box.

I used really thin cut scraps of Crumb Cake card stock in the holes on the button so it looks like thread. I used Mini Glue Dots to hold the paper down on the back side of the buttons.

    • Baby Bundle Stamp Set
    • Crumb Cake card stock, ink, and marker
    • Baja Breeze card stock and marker
    • Not Quite Navy card stock, ink, and marker
    • Night of Navy card stock and marker
    • Pumpkin Pie card stock and marker
    • Whisper White card stock
    • Jet Black StazOn ink
    • Pumpkin Pie Buttons (retired)
    • Mini Glue Dots

Don't forget to visit the color challenge blog and post your color challenge projects!

  • This week the wish list item I'm sharing with you is a little bit of a stretch for me. Whenever I see an item that might help me stretch my crafting style or try my hand at something different it goes on my wish list. I LOVE the vintage, distressed, collage look on paper crafting projects that is so popular right now – but I always struggle with this style on my own projects.

    118762L
    The Distressing Essentials Kit
    118762 ($19.95)

This kit looks like so much fun! I have it on my wish list with the hopes that it'll encourage me to branch out and try the vintage style more often once I have the kit.

    The kit includes:

    • Sanding block and emery board for distressing
Designer Series paper or smoothing the edges of paper that has been
      adhered to chipboard
    • Precision files for sanding intricate die cuts
      and sanding in tight areas
    • Blendable vintage ink and stamp for
creating an aged appearance: Tea Stain, Charcoal, Mahogany, Navy ink
    • Because vintage ink contains alcohol, they are not recommended for
      scrapbooking

So what do you guys think about the Wish List Wednesday posts? Are you having fun reading about the Stampin' Items that inspire me? Do you want to keep hearing more. Leave me a comment on this post and let me know if you want me to keep this up or suggest other types of posts you would like to see from me.

    Happy Stampin'
