• I keep saying this month has been a busy month – I just can't help it – this month has been crazy! My Grandma has been in the Hospital and that's been filling up every spare moment we have! Before she got sick My Mom, Aunt, and I decided to sign up for a Sewing Class. Somehow we all managed to get Grandma taken care of and still make the class.

I'm so happy we did manage to get the class in – we were all exhausted but it felt good to unwind for a couple of hours and do a little crafting! at the Class we made Pot Holders / Oven Mitts. Of course mine had to be made with Stampin' Up! fabric!!

I made one with the Sweet Stitches Designer Fabric

    IMG_3601

and even used the Melon Mambo Pom Poms for my trim! How stinkin cute is this…

    IMG_3590

Now I'll admit – my sewing skills are nothing to write home about – and making the trim look this good did require some "Mom" help!! But it actually wasn't too hard!!

I also made one featuring the Springtime Vintage Designer Fabric

    IMG_3610

I added a little Navy Blue Rick a Rack trim for this fabric. I think it give a nice punch of darker color.

I was able to get two Pot Holders / Oven Mitts out of the Fabric packs (with fabric left over for another project) and I thought it would be fun to make a set but change up the pocket fabrics…

    IMG_3611
These were so easy to make – Even a newer sewer could get a set made up pretty quickly!!

If you want to add these fabrics to your stash, order today.

ETA: For those of you who have asked – This is the pattern I used on this project

  • Last week I got together with my team for one of our Cards and Coffee Nights. Cards and Coffee is quickly becoming my favorite team get togethers! We meet up for a night of coffee (or soda, tea, hot chocolate, whatever you love!) and chatting! Anyone is welcome to bring along any craft projects they've been working on and we do a little Show and Tell. We also, of course, do a little card swapping!

This time we did a Sympathy or Thinking of You card theme.

For my card I used the Strength and Hope Digital Kit that's coming out on May 1st to create a Hybrid Card. You're going to LOVE the Strength and Hope Set (there is a Stamp Set and a Digital Kit avaliable) and $2 from each of the stamps or kits sold will be donated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation!

    IMG_3563
I created the background complete with tone on tone butterfly (I know it's hard to see in the picture – but REALLY pretty in person), the greeting, and digi brads. I printed them out, cut them to size and mounted them onto a Crumb Cake card. Then I created an awareness ribbon with Pretty in Pink Satin Ribbon and added that to the card front. I love the way they came out and I think it is a GREAT "Showing My Support" to send to someone who is batteling Breast Cancer.

Here's a look at a few of the other swaps from our Cards and Coffee night:

    IMG_3559

This was Crista's swap – her cards always blow me away – she is SO talented!!! My coloring skills want to be Just like Crista's when they grow up!! 🙂

    IMG_3562
This swap was created by Denise – She did a beautiful job showcasing the Tree stamp from the Thoughts and Prayers set. It's the perfect set for Sympathy cards!

I never seem to have a Sympathy card ready when I need one – so I'm excited to have a few ideas to CASE! I'm going to get a handfull of cards made up and in my card box so I'm prepared with a thoughtful card the next time I need to show support to one of my friends or family!

Be sure to check my Stampin' Up! Store on May 1st for information on the Hope & Strength Stamp set.

  • There are just a few more projects left in this Month's Craft Project Central – but I have good news – I was asked back as a Guest Designer again next month!! So I'll have a fun new project coming for you next month along with another bunch of great projects to share with you from the other designers!

Today's project is an Elegant Stationery Set for you to give as a gift to your friends, co-workers, kids’ teachers, etc. It’s also a great set to have on hand for yourself!

  • Earlier this month a friend of miine, Stephanie, asked me to make up a few ideas for her. She's a Thirty-One Gifts consultant and she wanted a few ideas for her team members to hand out as Hostess Gifts or Party Favors.

I put together a couple of Purse Themed Gift ideas… The first is one of my favorite Party Favors – The Hershey's Nugget Purse.

    IMG_3182edit

The second gift idea I came up with was a package for a nail file – a GREAT Hostess gift for a Thirty-One Party. And of course these ideas would be fun for a Spa Themed Birthday Party for girls!

    IMG_3197edit

I also made Stephanie an instruction sheet with tips for her Consultants to incorporate these items into their businesses….

If you're a Thirty-One Consultant – or just want to know how to make these fun gift items – you can download the instructions by Clicking Here, then visit my Online Store to buy the supplies you need to get busy creating!

    A Crafty Killing
    by: Lorraine Bartlett
    (Author's Website)

    (A Victoria Square Mystery #1)

    Berkley (Prime Crime), February 2011
    304 pages

    From the Publisher:

The last thing Katie Bonner wanted was to become the manager of Artisans Alley. But when her business partner, Ezra Hilton, is found lying at the bottom of a staircase, bludgeoned to death, she has no other choice. A collection of booths for artisans and craft sellers in a renovated applesauce factory building, Artisans Alley is the main attraction in the quaint Victoria Square shopping area. But business under Ezra had been faltering—enough to provoke someone to murder?

While the cops are proceeding by the book, Katie is investigating by the booths—for the answer to the killer’s identity lies in the hidden secrets of Artisans Alley itself.

Quick Thoughts on This Book From Julie:

If you're a craft lover, a mystery lover, and a cozy lover this book is a MUST read! I connected with Katie from almost the first sentence! The story line is fast paced and exciting – it's filled with likable characters and a touch of romance that I'm looking forward to seeing develope in the next book!

I could NOT read a crafty book and not have a home made book mark to go along with it – I came up with this butterfly ribbon bookmark…

  • Hope you're all enjoying a Happy Easter with your families!

I've been super busy lately and have been really looking forward to a quiet holiday at home – I have some reading I want to catch up on!

I made up a bunch of my Bungee Bookmarks with the Heated Ribbon Flowers to give as early Easter gifts and I realized the other day I had not made one for me yet – so I got to work on one for myself – and of course since it's for me – it had to have at least a little purple on it!

    IMG_3569

The Elegant Eggplant and Bashful Blue flower looks great – similar colors to one of my favorite flowers, a Hyacinth Bush.

    IMG_3575

The colors were so soft on this one I decided to skip the button in the center and instead added some Rhinestones.

While I was making Bungee Bookmarks I also decided to make up a few using my Wool Flowers (LOVE these flowers – they are some of my favorite!)
Click Here to Purchase the Tutorial for Wool Flowers.

This Bungee Bookmark features an Orange / Melon Daisy.

    IMG_3581

Hope everyone is enjoying their Easter! Don't forget to take some pictures so you can scrapbook your families Holiday!

  • I saw a video for this idea on fellow demo Angie's Blog and I knew right away I had to make up a few for Easter gifts – I LOVE Carrot boxes and I've made many versions over the years but I think this one is my favorite ever!!

    IMG_3467

I die cut Pumpkin Pie card stock using the Petal Cone Bigz Die (See it Online). Then  I embossed the cone with Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder (See it Online) and put it together to create the box.

    IMG_3482

The ribbons look just like the leafy top of a carrot – It's so cute! and the best part of this box is the Button will slide up to open the box and then slide right back down into place to keep the box closed – I LOVE reusable gifts!

    IMG_3473

I used the Punch Bunch Sale-a-bration set for the boxes – I wanted the flower to be Pumpkin Pie but still pop off the box so I backed it with a Daffodil Delight Circle and then rolled the petals up a bit.

I think these boxes would be so fun if you tucked a whole bunch into a basket – great to take into the office or school with little gifts of candy tucked inside!

Do you take small Candy or Easter gifts to Co-Workers or Family?? Leave me a comment and tell me about what you do…
