  • Hi Stampers,

It's Spring Cleaning time – and for me that always means a spending a little time getting my crafting supplies in order. This year I decided to focus on my Buttons, Brads, and such. I had them in a drawer in one of my crafting carts but I find myself never putting them away because I like to have them right near my crafting table so they're easy to use.

I finally found the perfect solution for me!!

    IMG_8021

I found these Organizers with small Really Useful Boxes (one of my favorite organization tools) at Office Max.

I seperated my buttons by color – I find it easier to grab what I want when I'm organized that way! 🙂

Everything else gets a box for the whole assortment.

Now I'm ready for all the fun new accessories that'll be coming out in the new Catalog next month!!

  • A few weeks ago if you were following me on Facebook you noticed my mention of working on Wedding Programs – Wedding programs are one of my favorite things to make!!! 🙂 and this is my favorite style – Simple and Classic

These are the programs I was working on for Hollie and Matt.  (with a few bits of personal information blured out)

    IMG_8090
It's hard to tell from the picture with the bluring but the names and information are printed on Vellum with the & printed in Pool Party on the card stock underneath – then everything it tied off on the side with some ribbon.

For this program we also added a bit of Bling – a few rhinestones at the top

    IMG_8093
The inside is just as simple and elegant

    IMG_8087
Congratulation to Hollie and Matt!! I had a so much fun working on your programs for you!!

If you would like programs like this one for your own wedding contact me! I'm happy to help you with ordering the products you'll need to create your own programs or I'll work with you and create the programs for you!!

    Bow Tutorial

     Q&A

Q: What is your favorite ribbon bow technique?

A: Well, I’d like to say it’s a natural ability, but that wouldn’t be true! I’ve learned how to make a bunch of great bows through resources from Stampin’ Up! and my fellow demonstrators. Here are 5 of my favorite bows as well as tips for making them.

    Crafting Bow Techniques by CraftyPerson

    1. Two Colored Double Bow: Layer two 18” ribbons. Layer ribbons then tie a standard bow. Before pulling the bow loops to tighten the bow, take a moment to twist the ribbon ends so they lay straight. Pull bow loops to tighten, then fan the inside bow loops out from behind the top loops.

    2. Elegant Bow: Lay a 5” piece of ribbon out flat. Add a dab of SNAIL to center of ribbon. Fold in right end and adhere to center. Add a dab of SNAIL on top of ribbon end. Fold in left end and adhere to center. Add a dab of SNAIL on top of ribbon end. Place one end of 2” ribbon over center of ribbon, creating a “T” shape. Add a dab of SNAIL on top of 2” ribbon end over folded ribbon. Wrap 2” ribbon around folded ribbon until it overlaps and adheres to itself. Pull ribbon snug so it is flat, but not so tight it causes the folded ribbon to gather. Trim off excess ribbon. Press bow flat or push the ends gently to puff it up a bit. Add to card or layer on top of a ribbon strip.

    3. Perfect Double Bow: Select a brad and spread prongs out flat. Begin with 18” ribbon. Use a ruler or estimate the lengths. Fold ribbon 3” from end with 3” section on top. Hold finger over folded layers 1” from fold with loop to left. Fold long end towards your finger to create 1” loop on right. Keep finger over center to hold layers in place. Fold long end back to center to make 1-1/2” loop on left. Fold ribbon back to center again creating 1-1/2” loop to right. Pinch ribbon at center and pick up layers. Set layered ribbon on brad with opened prongs. Fold prongs over ribbon and press flat. Trim ends.

    4. Hole Bow: Punch a hole in card stock with 1/8” or 1/4” punch. Thread both ends of a 22” long ribbon up through hole from bottom. Slide ribbon loop around card stock and tighten by pulling ends. Keep ribbon ends the same length. Split ribbon ends so one comes out above ribbon and one comes out below. Make sure ribbon isn’t twisted. Tie a basic bow. Fluff and adjust bow as needed and then trim ribbon ends.

    5. Fork Bow: Begin with a standard dinner fork with four tines and a 10” piece of ribbon. Place ribbon across front of fork with 1/3” of ribbon to left of the fork. This end will stay stationary. Wrap right end of the ribbon around behind the fork, around left edge, over the top of the first end. Thread end down through space between the center fork tines below where the first ribbon crosses. Pull ribbon up behind the fork and through the space between center fork tines. Knot the two ribbon ends firmly. Slide ribbon from fork and trim ends.

    Go Bow Crazy
Have fun practicing and experimenting with these bows and different types of ribbon. Pretty soon your friends will be asking you how your bows always look so great!
We have a number of ribbons retiring this month. Make sure to order your favourites before they are gone!

  • Hi Stampers,
I'm excited about the new Color Refresh coming with the new Catalog in June! When I created this card I wanted to play around with the new Brights range of colors – I love the way the colors come together when you include Bermuda Bay in the mix!!

    IMG_8105
I used the Tasteful Trim die to cut the mini rick rack strips out of Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, and Bermuda Bay card stock.

I adhered them to Crumb Cake card stock, matted with some more Bermuda Bay, I added a little corner rounding and attached the whole thing to a Crumb Cake card.

I stamped the "Hey There" greeting in Early Espresso ink. Are you wondering where that greeting came from?!!?! That's one of the stamps that's included in the welcome kit for Paper Pumpkin! A fun greeting that I know I'll use over and over again!!!

If you're not a Paper Pumpkin subscriber – go now and sign up so you can start getting a Monthly Creative Escape in the mail every month!!

so a earlier in the week we got together to make some magnetic bookmarks to give out with our books

    2013-04-17-20.40.17

    • I printed out the WBN logo.
    • We punched it out with a circle punch.
    • Layered it onto a Scallop Circle.
    • Die cut one of the Tags from Two Tags Die. We cut one from DSP and one from card stock then glued them together for the two tone look.
    • Folded it in half and added magnets to the inside

Here's one more look at my books getting ready to go out and give away. I also added a note from me inviting everyone who reads the book to visit me here and share their thoughts on the book! If you've read it I would LOVE to hear from you too!!

New This Á That Product Line by Stampin' Up!

     Q&A

Q: The new This and That journals look cool. In what ways are people using them?

This and That Product Line by Stampin' Up!

A: Our latest This and That Product Line is based on a growing trend of smash books.  They go back to the roots of scrapbooking when people created memory books filled with photos, mementos, and journaling. Today's scrapbooks can be truly an art form to be cherished as a family memento. Some scrapbookers prefer to go back to a simpler and faster way of capturing what is happening in their lives.  So you maybe still wondering what's it's all about?

    • Do you remember doodling in your school notebook?  It's like that!
    • Have you ever created Imagery Board? Collections of magazine picture that you like or places you want to go?  It's like that!
    • Have you ever had a journal you kept in the past and stopped because you just wanted to add entries when you felt inspired instead of chronologically?  It's like that!
    • Have you ever collected ideas and inspiration from several different sources for a project you were doing for school, home renovation, a wedding, a party or maybe a garden?  It's like that!
    • Ever wanted to have a place to add your favorite quotes when you hear them?  It's like that!
    • Need a place to collect all your love notes, recipes, or funny quotes from your kids?  Yeah, it's like that!

I could go on and on because as with most crafting products, the only limitation for using This and That Journals is your imagination!  But I will leave you with this last idea. Basically, it's Pinterest on paper

As you can tell this would be a great product for Teens, Tweens, Mothers, Planners, Would-be Artists, Collector of Pretty Things, and the list can go on and on.  Take a look at this video and then give it a try and see what inspires you?
